An immigrant who lives in isolation embarks on a street photography competition in the city. But he is unable to capture a good moment, until one of the photographed subjects confronts him.

Director Biography.
Cornelius Marco started in post-production a decade ago and has since developed a fascination with directing documentary and narrative films, often exploring the line between both through organic storytelling. Marco enrolled in a Bachelor of Film Production program across SAE Institute's Jakarta and Melbourne campuses from 2018 - 2022, where he built his international connections and gained valuable experiences from directing and post-producing across Australian and Indonesian productions. He currently lives in Melbourne and freelances as a video editor, colourist and VFX artist. He's working towards a long-term career in directing, and is currently developing his next short and transmedia project.
Director Statement.
Post-covid, entire subsets of generations are presented with a new, digital anxiety. The breathing room between spacetime has narrowed drastically. For younger generations, especially in economically-developed Asian countries, this manifests in constant self-doubt, where one’s own thoughts are tailored by a myriad of online algorithms. 'Still' is an exploration of that, through the perspective of an Asian immigrant living in Australia with social anxiety, who has established in his ‘safe zone’ during lockdown isolation, but hasn’t moved on with the rest of the world after. The film is driven by his contradictory ideas of ‘passion’ and ‘success’ that are further exacerbated by the digital noise he surrounds himself with. As the antithesis, the film uncovers his longing for the tactility and warm nature of analog film and the importance of presence in pursuing passion, and physical human connection, which I believe is essential for human psyche into the future. I hope this film presents itself as a reflection on stillness, overstimulation, connection and passion, and that multiple generations can resonate with it.
